Betty + Lola Recipe Series: Old Fashion

We did a quick survey of the Betty and Lola team to find out what their Dad's favourite "cocktail" of the moment was. By far Dad's fav (when it wasn't a glass of red or whisky neat of course) was the classic Old Fashion. Did we know how to make a good one though?! Ahhh no. So we thought we'd share a classic recipe which hopefully you can also use to spoil your Papa when you see him next (when ever that may be?!).

Ingredients 

• 1/2 teaspoon sugar
• 3 dashes Angostura bitters
• 1 teaspoon water
• 2 ounces bourbon
• Garnish: dried orange

Steps

1. Add the sugar and bitters to a rocks glass, then add the water, and stir until the sugar is nearly dissolved.

2. Fill the glass with large ice cubes, add the bourbon, and gently stir to combine.

3. Express the oil of an orange peel over the glass, then drop in the dried orange peel.
